1. Is the University for Development Studies a public and accredited university?

Yes. UDS is a public university established in 1992 by the Government of Ghana and operates under national tertiary education regulations.

2. What programmes are available for international students?

UDS admits international students at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Short-Stay levels across disciplines including Sciences, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Engineering, Law, Business, Education, and the Social Sciences. See the Programmes section for a full list.

3. What are the minimum entry and English language requirements?

Entry requirements vary by country and programme level. English proficiency requirements include the following:

4. What is the Third Trimester Field Practical Programme?

6. What documents are required for application?

Typically, the following documents are required:

  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Proof of English proficiency (if applicable)
  • Passport bio-data page
  • Referee reports (for postgraduate)
7. What are the tuition fees and estimated living costs?

Tuition varies by programme and level. Estimated monthly living expenses in Tamale range between GHS 1,900 and 3,500 depending on lifestyle and accommodation choice. See Fees and Cost of Living for current details

8. Do I need a visa and residence permit?

Yes. Most international students (particularly outside the AU and the British Commomwealth) require a Study Visa prior to travel. Students staying beyond one trimester must obtain a residence permit from the Ghana Immigration Service after arrival. Guidance is available under Visa and Immigration

9. Is on-campus accommodation available?

10. What support services are available for international students?
