The University offers limited on-campus accommodation on a first-come, first-served basis. All rooms are furnished with basic amenities such as beds, desks, and ceiling fans. Students are required to indicate their preference of accommodation after offer of admission. International students in particular are entreated to opt for one of the University’s on-campus residential facilities. DIRA will facilitate the arrangement for on-campus housing for interested students.
The following is a list of halls of residence/hostels available on campus.
Accommodation allocation (for on-campus halls/hostels) is handled through online reservation. Students must log into the accommodation portal using their Unique Identification Number (UIN) to book a room.
Private hostels and shared apartments are available around the campuses. DIRA can provide a verified list of recommended hostels with reasonable rent and safety standards to students upon request.
Note: UDS administration does not guarantee the condition or management standards of private hostels; students are encouraged to check accreditation status with the accommodation office or student representation before enrolling
Lease ArrangementsStudents are encouraged to sign written tenancy agreements and avoid cash payments without receipts.
Utilities and InternetElectricity and water charges may be included in rent or paid separately. Internet access is available in some hostels and university libraries.
Weather and Climate InformationGhana has a tropical climate characterised by warm temperatures throughout the year. Average daily temperatures generally range between 24°C and 32°C, with higher temperatures occurring during the dry season. The country experiences two main seasons: a dry season, influenced by the Harmattan winds, and a rainy season, with varying intensity across regions. Humidity is higher in the southern parts of the country and relatively lower in the north.
