Background

Shamsudeen Abdulai (PhD) is a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Food Economics. Previously, he served voluntarily as a Research Assistant (2010-2017) in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and co-authored “Principles of Microeconomics” book for undergraduate students. He has been involved in design of research instruments, data collection, analyses and report writing ranging from “the poor performance of women candidates in the 2010 District Level Elections in Northern Ghana”, “the threats and effects of climate change on local livelihood in Northern Ghana”, conducting lab-in-the field experiments with farmers along the Sisli-Kulpawn basin of the Mamprugu Moagduri District for the University of Bayreuth in Germany. He also served on the research team (2011-2013) responsible for writing a baseline survey report, mid-term and end of programme assessment of a United Nations Human Security Programme in Northern Ghana. In 2015, he supervised a baseline survey for “Innovation Laboratory for Small Scale Irrigation” project in Northern Ghana for the International Food Policy Research Institute. Currently, his research interests are in applied agricultural and development economics and regularly reviews manuscripts for the Journal of Agricultural & Development Economics, African Journal of Agricultural Research, Cogent Environmental Science, Agronomy Journal and Financial Innovation.
