Background
Osman Tahidu Damba (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics with the Department of Agricultural and Food Economics with over 15 years of industry experience at both local and international development space. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Ataturk University, Turkey, an MPhil in Agribusiness, Legon and a BSc. degree in Agricultural Technology from the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, Ghana. Prof. Damba’s expertise is in agricultural policies, climate and food systems, agribusiness and international diplomacy. Prior to joining the UDS in 2013, Prof. Damba worked with the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), Pan African Organization for Sustainable Development (POSDEV) in charge of evaluations, Agribusiness Cluster Advisor with Farmers Organization Network in Ghana (FONG) and the Association of Church Development Projects (ACDEP). He teaches Agricultural Finance and Farm Management, Postharvest Value Chains and Climate Change and Sustainability at the postgraduate level. He previously taught Agro Enterprise Development, Agricultural Facility Management, and Food and Nutrition Policy at the undergraduate level. Prof. Osman Tahidu Damba has vast experience and expertise in grantsmanship and consulted for various local and international agencies in the area of technology transfer, climate change, gender and social inclusion. Prof. Osman Tahidu Damba is also a board member of the UNESCO Category Centers comprising of the Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, University of Cape Coast; African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS); and the Technology Consultancy Center at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (TCC-KNUST). He is currently on secondment to the Ghana Commission for UNESCO as the Secretary-General responsibly for leadership and administration of the Commission.
