Background

Dr. Gifty Apiung Aninanya is a Senior Lecturer & Head of Department of the Global & International Health, School of Public Health, University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana. Furthermore, she has a Master of Public Health (Health Promotion) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promotion, and a PhD in Public Health from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

Dr. Gifty has been a teacher and researcher for over 20 years. At the School of Public Health, she teaches courses in a variety of subjects, such as Research Methods, Global Health, Maternal and Child Health, Adolescent Health, Health Education and Promotion, and Spatial Analysis of Health and Illnesses. Her expertise encompasses a broad range of global health topics, including HIV and AIDS, maternal, newborn, and child health, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, performance-based incentives, computerized decision support systems, monitoring and evaluation of health interventions. She has also written in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and is skilled in qualitative research techniques.

Additionally, she has worked with a variety of domestic and foreign partners including Rockefeller Foundation and European Union on a number of funded research and development initiatives. Also, she has provided consultancy services to both domestic and foreign institutions, including Alberta University, Canada, USAID, BASICNEEDS Ghana and NORSAAC.
