Fuseini Tia Iddrisu is a lecturer at the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences. He has previously served as the department's seminar coordinator. Iddrisu has in-depth experience in aquatic resource management with advanced knowledge in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries management, water quality, environmental management, and water resource management.
He is passionate about generating and disseminating evidence-based solutions to address the complex challenges of aquatic environments, focusing on water quality pollution and pathogenic fish disease prevention and control using indigenous materials and techniques, especially in freshwater resources in low- and middle-income countries. He has been instrumental in building the capacity of indigenous communities, including Bontanga, Golinga, and Libga, to weave cage nets, fish cage culture, and take water quality data as a way of empowering alternative livelihoods. His teaching covers areas such as water quality management and health, limnology, aquatic ecology, fish biology and aquaculture, fish and aquaculture economics, fish nutrition, and fish seed production. His research interests include sustainable aquaculture, fish nutrition and health, environment and conservation, freshwater aquatic ecology, aquatic pollution, biological processes for contaminant, nutrient, and trace organic pollutants removal culture systems, water quality management in aquaculture, and enhancement of freshwater fisheries through cage culture.
