MS. FATIMA AMPONSAH FORDJOUR LECTURER DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY FACULTY OF BIOSCIENCE NYANKPALA Campus
Background

Fatima Amponsah Fordjour is a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology. She obtained her undergraduate and master’s degrees at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the areas of Biological Sciences and Clinical Microbiology respectively. She worked as a research scientist at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).  She has over 9 years of research and teaching experience. Her teachings cover human and animal immunology, plant pathology, environmental microbiology, medical microbiology among others. Her research interest is mainly in the areas of infectious and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) (onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis and schistosomiasis). Currently her research focus is primarily directed towards monitoring and surveillance of schistosomiasis and other protozoan infections. She has received early career research awards/grants from the Sickle Pan African Research Consortium (SPARCo), WHO/TDR and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. She has articles published in peer reviewed journals.

Fatima is an active member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) for youth, American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Convention of Biomedical Research Ghana (CoBReG) and Women in Science and Technology (WISTEM).
