Background

Abindaw holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies and a Master of Science in Development Planning and Management, with a strong academic and professional interest in sustainable development, land use planning, and community-based development strategies. His academic journey reflects a commitment to understanding the complexities of socio-economic growth, governance, and spatial planning in Ghana and beyond. With a background in Development Studies, Abindaw has cultivated expertise in analyzing social, economic, and political dimensions of development, while his advanced training in Development Planning and Management equips him with practical skills in policy formulation, project design, and implementation and monitoring and evaluation. His research interests include land administration, informal urbanization challenges, climate change and sustainability discourse, the integration of customary and statutory land systems into effective planning frameworks. Abindaw’s academic work emphasizes bridging theory and practice, particularly in addressing pressing issues such as land use planning, agricultural productivity, and sustainable urban growth. His scholarship contributes to ongoing debates on development policy and planning in Africa, positioning him as a researcher dedicated to advancing inclusive and practical solutions for community development. He has taught several courses since his appointment in 2013 with the University for Development Studies namely Fundamental of Planning, Development Planning process, Infrastructure Planning, Rural Industrial Development Planning, Introduction to Urban Design and Development Theory.
